Job Description
As a Global Network Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the Global Network Services within our organization. Your expertise will be essential in implementing the global network strategy, ensuring optimal performance, and maintaining seamless connectivity across our global network infrastructure.
Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the successful operation and continuous improvement of our network services, enabling us to maintain our high standards of service delivery and network performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate at scale, providing a vital link between different IT areas and stakeholders to support Global Network Services.
- Help implement the global network strategy as defined at the group level in collaboration with the Network Lead.
- Serve as a focal point of contact within the group for all network-related activities.
- Lead the onboarding of key global network initiatives into operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both operational and non-operational counterparts.
- Collaborate with Integration and Engineering teams to proactively and reactively identify and resolve issues with vendors and third-party network providers.
- Manage critical network incidents at Level 3, ensuring swift and effective resolution to meet service SLA targets.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings to discuss plans, issues, and achievements related to network operations.
- Support Change Management and Problem Management processes to ensure network stability and performance.
- Comply with SGS’s Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct at all times.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex global networks and a proven track record in network engineering, particularly in large-scale, multinational environments.
Education:
- Tertiary or higher education in Computer Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Networking certifications such as CCNA or CCNP.
- ITIL Foundation level certification or higher is a distinct advantage.
- Certification or proven experience with Riverbed SDWAN technology is a plus.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in similar roles within large, complex global networks (1,000+ sites).
- Strong proficiency in network routing protocols and network security technologies.
- Experience in software-defined networks and cloud-based security solutions.
- Experience in planning, designing, and documenting SD-WAN architecture.
- Experience in Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Proven track record in managing escalated incidents to resolution.
- Experience working with international customers and service providers.
- Deep understanding of Customer Support and Service Level Management (ITIL).
Skills:
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage crisis situations efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate information and formulate sound, practical judgments.
- Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and deliver superior results.
