Job purpose:
The Manager of Innovation Strategy & Portfolio Management is a key role within our Corporate Innovation Department. Reporting to the Innovation Growth & Strategy Head, this individual will be responsible for supporting the definition and execution of the innovation strategy for Ferrovial and our businesses, specifically focusing on core businesses. In addition, the role will involve overseeing a diverse portfolio of innovation projects, managing budgets, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with various stakeholders to drive transformative change.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy: Innovation Strategy
- Support the development and implement a comprehensive innovation strategy aligned with the overall corporate strategy and coordinated with BU innovation priorities
- Identify Innovation challenges, collaborate with Business Units (BUs) to define and prioritize strategic initiatives.
- Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify competitive landscape, emerging trends and opportunities.
Operations: Portfolio Management and Governance
- Oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of innovation projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Coordinate annual budgets for the Innovation Portfolio, including capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operational expenditures (OPEX).
- Track project progress, measure KPIs, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
- Monitor budget expenditures to ensure optimal resource allocation.
- Prepare and present regular budget reports and forecasts to executive leadership.
- Collaborate with finance control teams to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
- Collaborate within the Corporate Innovation Department to secure and allocate necessary resources and expertise.
- Support to manage and prioritize innovation BU Programmes and projects
Operations: Innovation Reporting
- Facilitate knowledge transfer between corporate and business unit innovation teams.
- Manage the best practices sharing among innovation stakeholers in Ferrovial in specific forums (Global innovation council, reports, topic meetings)
- Develop and execute effective communication strategies to promote innovation and new initiatives.
- Create engaging content, such as presentations, reports, and newsletters.
- Manage innovation content for internal and external communication channels, coordinating with the Communication Department.
- Establish and maintain strong governance processes, collaborating with BUs
- Prepare comprehensive reports for executive leadership and board members.
- Facilitate regular meetings with executives and CEOs to review innovation progress and decision-making
Qualifications and Skills:
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong consulting capabilities
- At least 3 years’ experience in innovation management, strategy development, and portfolio management.
- Understanding of the infrastructure industry.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and international environment.
- Fluency in English
