What will you do?
As Procurement Manager you are responsible for the allocated purchasing volume across various commodities, the contribution to earnings from material price reductions and the cash flow effect due to the improvement of payment terms, while ensuring a continuous supply of materials with the required quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement & Commodity Strategy Development: Develop and implement procurement and commodity strategies in alignment with business requirements, including continuous supplier market analysis and second source development.
- Team Development: Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and professional development within the procurement team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Enhance collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve desired productivity and operational outcomes including investments and design-to-cost-measures.
- eSourcing Implementation: Increase the utilization of eSourcing tools such as eRFQ, eBidding, and eAuction to streamline procurement processes and to generate cost-savings.
- Cost Management: Develop zero-based costing and create short-term and long-term strategies for different commodities to optimize costs.
- Supplier Engagement: Support supplier capacity mapping, supplier risk assessments, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, including supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and geopolitical factors.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Driving sustainability initiatives at suppliers with a focus on reducing the carbon footprint. Prioritize engagement with high impact suppliers.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulations and compliance standards set by Supply Chain Management (SCM) governance.
- Continuous improvement: Implementation of process improvements and digitization projects, including the expansion of procurement concepts and the introduction of further methods and processes.
What you need to make real what matters?
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Production Engineering / Finance
- Proficiency in SAP, Supply Chain Management software, MS Office, and analytical tools.
- A +10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in leadership roles managing substantial purchasing volumes.
- Strong understanding of Procurement KPIs such as Contribution to Net Income, Payment Term.
- Hands-on knowledge of supply chain management and the US domestic rail service markets
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to quickly establish trust and confidence.
- International experience in collaboration and cross-functional skills
- Equivalent, and eSourcing events.
- In-depth knowledge of various manufacturing processes, supplier databases, pricing structures, and negotiation techniques.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with a history of managing supplier relationships using both collaborative and confrontational approaches.
- Experience working in a matrix organization structure.
