AXA International Markets (IMa) is composed of 17 countries, covering a large territorial scope from Latin America (key operations of AXA being in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil), Middle East (Turkey and Lebanon) and Africa (key operations being Morocco, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt and French speaking Sub Saharian Africa) and South East Asia (Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and South Korea)
The main purpose of the job is to contribute to the IMa Technical department mission which is to deliver profitable growth in all IMa entities through maturity in pricing, underwriting, and portfolio monitoring, with a focus on:
• Monitor portfolio profitability and growth
• Ensuring successful transfer of processes, tools, methodologies in IMa
• Raise the pricing expertise of the actuarial teams in the entities of IMa
As a Senior professional of the Actuarial & Pricing Department the employee will support entities in IMa to achieve their growth and profitability targets by ensuring adequacy of local techniques, tools and teams to meet targets.
The job holder will have to interact with local experts and occasionally heads of Commercial Lines, Actuarial, Marketing, Distribution, etc. either at IMa or local level. Regarding the AXA European Markets and AXA Group, will interact with different experts and collaborate in specific projects transversally.
Under the IMa Head of Personal Lines P&C supervision, but aligned with the mission of the Commercial Lines LoB, the Senior Actuary will:
- Participate and potentially lead the deployment of UW Strategic projects in relation to Commercial Lines UW with a high focus on Motor (Pricing Strategy, Monitoring, Tools, Methods, etc….)
- Be a technical reference in Actuarial and Commercial Lines UW
- Provide coaching and guidance, giving feedback to build understanding and sharing information and knowledge around IMa
- Support in monitoring and follow up of the business in order to react at any deviation versus budget.
- Check adequacy of local Actuarial and Commercial Lines skills and help to reach an adequate level by implementation of regular training activities such as seminars, workshops etc…
- Underwrite and validate some businesses that exceed the local GULs of the entities following the UW guidelines and the Standards of AXA, under the delegation from the Head of Commercial lines business.
- Define and cascade deployment of IMa initiatives when relevant in a way which fits IMa priorities and individual entities specificities and local plans.
Profile:
Background
- Educated to University degree level (Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related areas)
- Experience 8+ years in actuarial works (pricing, reserving, statistics modelling) for Commercial Lines.
- Excellent English skills, other languages and French/Spanish would be a plus
Technical skills
- Knowledge of operative processes in the insurance industry
- Knowledge of GLM and GBM modelling techniques
- Knowledge in “insurance economics” (P&L)
- Good knowledge on the use of WTW Emblem software (Radar, Optimiser and/or Classifier will be a plus), SAS, Excel software. AKUR8, R, Visual Basic or SQL will be a plus
- Knowledge in Data Science will be appreciated
