The Global Underwriting Manager will be part of the Chief Underwriting Office Property team providing Global Chief Underwriting Officer (GCUO) Property the ability to deploy Global Product Strategy and associated frameworks and controls.

The key internal interactions (Manager, Team, Other Teams)
- Support GCUO, Business Unit Chief Underwriting Officers (BU CUO), Regional Product Leaders (RPL) and Underwriters with the development and review of Insurance contract wordings, in conjunction with Legal and Wordings
- Collaborate with GCUO Property to support deployment of Global Product Strategy and associated frameworks and controls
- Support development and execution of the GCUO Property Operational Plan, including leading Projects where required
- Engage, including leading where required, on various technical topics. These topics will often be broader than Underwriting, noting cross collaboration with Pricing, Reinsurance, Risk Management and Risk Consulting will often be required to bring change in strategy / products / process and to ensure applicable support to business development
- Work in conjunction with Underwriting Governance Centre (UGC) & Region on Rules and Guidelines (R&G’s), Directives & Underwriting Authority Template
- Support GCUO in providing treaty reinsurance information pack allowing Ceded Re to negotiate treaty placement
- Participate in independent underwriting reviews of selected GCUO Property portfolios, with the support of GPCUO and UGC, to promote and improve the governance and quality of the underwriting in the Business Units
- Co-ordination of training material with relevant colleagues (including Marketing and the Underwriting Academy) and support the overall successful delivery of training strategy, using lessons learnt to drive improvements.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Teamwork
- Collaborating with colleagues across GCUO, Underwriting, Claims, Wordings team, Legal Department and beyond to assist in product development and product innovation.
- Work with GCUO, Business Units, UGC & AXA Group in all aspects of UW Governance, including:Drafting and updating of R&G, Cascade of Underwriting Authority, as pre-agreed between CUO and BU CUO along with any required ongoing administration, Independent / Thematic reviews, Effective referral management and maintenance of referral to CUO, AXA Group mandates & Letter of Application
- Analyzing
- Reviewing our existing products, new product development (including Product PAPs) and those of our competitors, including analysis and explanation of individual clauses right through to entire product wordings, always with a focus on delivering a commercial solution to any issued raised
- Development and enhancement of policy forms and endorsements. Assist underwriters to interpret and respond to coverage requests
- Support & perform analytics, as required, of Underwriting and Financial Management Information.

- Working closely with key stakeholders to build new insurance products or refine / expand existing products
- Develop & promote best practice UW standards & support implementation
- Support engagement & development of solution in respect of both emerging and systemic risk
- Training and Developing
- Sharing best practice solutions across the wider business
- Train underwriters to better understand risk and exposure to actual claims
- Co-ordination of training material and support the overall successful delivery of training strategy
You will be reporting to the Global Head of Underwriting Management Property.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
- Solid and established Property and/or Energy, and/or Construction Underwriting experience. Experience in different geographies will be considered a plus.
- Fluent and confident in working in English, written and spoken

- Stakeholders management skills: develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Provide guidance and seek input from others as needed to achieve the best result possible.
