Role
We are looking for an individual to join the Energy team to be involved in the provision of consultancy services, particularly in relation to decarbonisation of buildings, energy transition, energy efficiency and renewable energy in buildings.
You will support and join a team that has established a reputation for supporting global projects, both Spanish and international. We offer consulting, advisory, design and planning support services to the main commercial, industrial and institutional clients in Spain and around the world.
Our portfolio of work varies in scale, from providing techno-economic studies to help institutions and countries reduce greenhouse gas emissions from harmful pollutants associated with residential heating and assessing how to reduce the overall energy consumption of major airports, to digitally model how the shape, position and number of windows affects comfort within a mosque.
The career paths at Arup are diverse. In addition to our core energy services, we sit close to the Climate and Sustainability team, providing advisory services for energy modelling, commissioning or construction physics.
The team is growing and looking for the right candidate to support the delivery of a wide range of projects as we help our clients meet their sustainability objectives and our own commitments to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Minimum Requirements
- Studies in Industrial Engineering, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 3-4 years of experience in a position with similar responsibilities
- High level of English (equivalent to C1)
- Experience in building energy modelling using specialized software
- Interest in building physics, building energy modelling, energy efficiency and sustainability in buildings
- Good knowledge of MS Office
Assessable Requirements
- Knowledge of building facilities (especially mechanical services/air conditioning) would be an advantage
- Knowledge of programming languages
- Use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools
- It will be valuable to have international academic or work experience
- Master in Bioclimatic architecture/Sustainability/HVAC or applied maths
- It would be valuable if the selected person has experience in leading projects that involve building sustainability certification assessments (BREEAM, LEED), carbon footprints, building energy audits, carbon management services, climate change assessments, transitions to net-zero energy (embodied or net-zero operational buildings), or related services
